Procrastination Rules the Nation

I don't really have much time to update at all this week, it's one of the few times a year my procrastination catches up with me. The next couple days will consist of panic, sudden flashes of rage, pathetic sobbing and then I'll slowly lose all sense of reality as I try to drink the contents of a glow stick.

I love this time of the year.

So wish me luck, I'll leave you with a neat YouTube video to tide you over.

Edit: I had to include this. That's a lot of effort to put into an April Fool's joke, probably a lot of money too.

Either Way, it's Cold.

Chris over in How'da be a Pimp already addressed this topic a little while ago, but recent events have encouraged me to further comment on it.

When I woke up this morning, it was snowing. That's fine though, that's been happening on and off for the past two weeks. Apparently we are getting a storm tonight, so it wasn't surprising when the snow started to come down almost horizontally. I was fine with all of this, but then something strange happened.

The snow changed.

Today, we watched the war between Spring and Winter as it switched from rain to snow as each side tried to take dominance over our city. At one point I saw it both rain and snow at the same time. It was at that point where I gave up, closed the blinds and retreated back into the depths of my house.

A Night's Post

I'm slowly trying to get my sleep schedule back in order, but something tells me this blog isn't going to help me overcome my bad habit of staying up much too late. But I'm not complaining, I can see myself having fun and exciting times on the blog.

Two and I had just recently seen a sneak preview for "Run Fat Boy, Run" with Simon Pegg (well known for Shaun of the Dead, and Hot Fuzz) and I enjoyed quite a bit. It didn't have the same feel as "Hot Fuzz" or "Shaun of the Dead", both of which were written by Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright and directed by Edgar Wright, though it was still a good movie. Having actually stayed in my seat just long enough to catch the first bit of the credits, I noticed a familiar name noted as the director. David Schwimmer, or as many people would know him, Ross from friends. Apparently it was one of his first, if not his first, directing job, so good for him. He and Simon Pegg probably started to get the idea of working together after they both played in a movie that came out to dvd a couple months ago. A movie which I can't remember the name of. Also, something I found even more interesting, Simon Pegg wrote the screenplay with another familiar face. Micheal Ian Black wrote the screenplay with Simon Pegg! A lot of you probably don't know who he is, but he was a part of one of my favorite T.V. shows, "Stella". Which only had one season, but it was a damn fine season. Anyways, "Run Fat Boy Run" is a good comedy, while it has a bit of romance in it, it's not a romantic comedy. It has some great characters, some really funny moments but lacks a bit of the wit in Pegg's last couple of well known films. Don't get me wrong, this isn't a review, but I do thinks it's something you should check out. Just don't rush to the theaters to see it, it's probably more of a rental. Although I have to admit, there's just something about watching a comedy with a huge audience. The roaring laughter of the entire theater is something I actually enjoy quite a bit.

Also, I was talking to Two about the blog a bit. Hopefully he'll be able to get some posts on the site soon, but I'm still not sure how often he's going to be writing. We'll see, hopefully he'll be able to stay on board for a while. If not, that's alright, I can hold things down on my own pretty well.

For now, I'm out.

Finding a Purpose, and a Fifty Dollar Bill.

We here at Slices of Cake are still trying to find a purpose for this blog, but maybe that isn't the right word to use. Maybe we shouldn't even be thinking in that direction, we started this blog so we would have a place to write anything that came into our heads. Sure, we could have written on random sheets of paper or just on MS Word, but where's the fun in that? Also, in a blog, we can pretend that we actually have an audience reading what we are writing, and we can address them when we write our posts, like I am right now. Honestly, we are basically talking to ourselves right now, but we like to pretend that there's someone out there on the internets who is reading this right now and might be getting some sort of enjoyment from it. Hopefully it's not in the wrong way, but you never know these days. Who knows, some people may find words and improper grammar rather attractive. Personally I don't understand it, but some people don't understand why I enjoy eating kiwis whole, skin and all.

For now, I intend to use this space as an outlet for my need to get some daily writing down. Maybe some reviews here and there on games, movies, books, etc. I'll probably post some interesting news on here as well, stuff you would probably find from Kotaku or Digg (or something of the sort) most likely because that's where I found it myself. Who knows, maybe I'll find some things all on my own!

You've probably noticed how, in the first paragraph, I kept on using the word "we". That's because I've already been able to add another editor to the Slices of Cake crew, which will hopefully grow as the times goes by. PlayerTwo, (aka; Two, Dos, P2) joined up today, to which I'm pretty happy. I'm not sure how often he's going to be posting, or what he's going to be posting for that matter (haven't really cleared that up yet) but like I said, I'm glad to have another person on the team. There's room for more, if you want to join us here at Slices of Cake send an e-mail to Player-One@live.com and I'll try to get back to you ASAP. I'm not really worried I'm going to be swamped with e-mails, but I'm just putting it out there in case someone is actually interested at this point. Who knows, and don't be afraid to tell people you know about us, the more visitors the better.

I just realized I haven't introduced myself yet. I'm PlayerOne (aka; One, Uno, P1) and I felt the urge to start up this blog yesterday, although it's something I should have done a long time ago. There isn't really much else to say, I have a little makeshift profile so I wont bother writing down all my interests and whatnot. I will say most of the things I'm interested in will have an influence on the content, or at least my content, on Slices of Cake. That pretty much goes without saying. Hopefully I'll be able to get Two to start writing semi-regularly on the site too.

I'd like to say thanks to the guys at "How'da be a Pimp", mainly Chris, for helping me start this. Sure, it's really simple to start your own blog, but Chris gave me the inspiration for this blog, and by inspiration I mean the website for Blogger.com. Seriously though, you should go over there and check out their stuff, if you haven't already. Great times. Also, Bacon Vodka.

Well, that should wrap up everything I wanted to take care of in the actual opening post. A good thing to know, found money must be one of the greatest things in the world... After searching my sock drawer for some socks, I found an envelope with fifty dollars inside. It's not that great of an accomplishment, but for about two seconds I was on top of the world.

Oh, right, I almost forgot.... Man-Cannons in the new MGS online. This doesn't mean I'm urging you to run out and pre-order the new MGS (hell, I don't even have a PS3 yet, and don't really plan to yet) but... Come on.... Man-Cannons. The word(s) itself brings joy to my heart.

Open For Business

Technically, that is. If you think about it though, it's a bit like walking into a new restaurant with no seats, tables, waiters, or chefs. All you see is a lone man standing in the middle an empty room, handing out miniature bags of Salt and Vinegar chips. Tasty as they are, you can't eat too many before your mouth becomes numb and pasty.

So here's your bag of chips. Enjoy.
